sk grout is a poet, writer & editor.

In her work, SK Grout builds a practice of interrogating language to deepen her engagement with intersectional feminism, queer love stories, environmental care and intra-and-inter-community solidarity. She seeks to explore the fluidity of identity across time, distance and space.

Grout’s debut pamphlet, What love would smell like (V. Press) was named one of the Best Books of 2021 by the Poetry School. She won the Oxford Brookes International Poetry Competition in 2022 judged by Caroline Bird, achieved second place in the Ambit Poetry Competition in 2020 judged by Fred d’Aguiar, and third place in the New Zealand Poetry Society International Competition in 2024 judged by Janet Newman and placed as finalist in a number of competitions judged by Aria Aber, Joelle Taylor and Rodney Gomez.

Her poetry has appeared in 14 Poems, Banshee Lit, Cordite Poetry Review, Finished Creatures, Glass, Magma, Poetry London and Poetry Wales. Her reviews have appeared in Modern Poetry in Translation, the Poetry School blog, the Night Heron Barks, Tentacular Magazine and the Alchemy Spoon. She holds an MA in Creative Writing (Novels) from City University London and is a Feedback Editor at Tinderbox Poetry Journal.
